Where Music & Dance Fall Face First Into The Internet

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Walt from 'Your Weekly Music Lesson with Walt!' on You Tube & Revision3 BETA has agreed to be in the 'Internet Dance 2' video I'm making. I'm still trying to get more people to agree to participate, but I've already got Jeff Cannata (Totally Rad Show), Gabe Bondoc (You Tube), the Elevator Show (You Tube), and more willing to be in the video. I just hope a lot of the people I'm asking don't think I'm doing this for money or anything like that. I've never had extra ads or anything on any of my sites, and I plan on keeping it that way. This blog is something I think is fun, and making this current video is sort of a tribute to the people I enjoy watching online while at the same time making it relevant to this blog. So for those already going to be in the video, thank you, and if I wasn't a fan of your work I wouldn't have asked you to be in the video.

Addams Family Theme
I'm a sucker for classic TV theme songs, so I had to post this.

Mr. Really Really Really Bad Dancer
This is an old Bud Light commercial, but it's my favorite of the "Real Men Of Genius" ad campaign.

Warren Zevon - Werewolves Of London
Not the greatest music video or song, but very appropriate for today.

Cubase SX3
paradigma AKA Nathan Wills gives us a look at what he uses to create music.

Best Of The Rest:

I haven't seen much the past couple days that I felt were post worthy on this blog. I don't post something just to have something to post. It has to be something I find interesting or funny involving music or dance. Since I only had a couple videos for the BOTR today I'm going to save them for Saturday. For today I'll post a few more of my favorite musical #'s from classic movies & television...with a Beetlejuice theme. Happy Halloween everyone, and I hope you get more treats then tricks.

1. This is by far my favorite scene of the movie. CLICK HERE FOR Banana Boat

2. You'll have to forgive the dialog, but I loved the ending to this movie. I dance a little everytime I watch this movie. CLICK HERE FOR Shake Shake Shake Senora

3. I didn't watch the Beetlejuice cartoon much when I was younger, but I do remember watching it a few Saturday mornings. CLICK HERE FOR Cartoon Theme

Making Music With Electricity & Your Face

I saw this on Rocketboom. I wonder how many bands are looking for a 'face' player?

Pop Waffle Vol. 23
I like my news with a little music & crafts.

Two Blokes, Two Ukes - The Monster Mash (ukulele cover)
You know I'm always on the lookout for a new ukulele fix. Thanks POPTUB.

Passion Pit - Sleepyhead
POPTUB does a good job at finding my favorite kind of music videos...the weirder the better.

Best Of The Rest:

Today I'm going to focus on some of my favorite performances in movie musicals. Fred Astaire & Audrey Hepburn will be the main focus this time.

1. If you haven't seen the movie 'Funny Face' you're dead to me. :p CLICK HERE FOR Funny Face

2. This is probably my favorite # from the movie, and it features Kay Thompson along with Audrey. CLICK HERE FOR How To Be Lovely

3. Fred & Audrey together again. CLICK HERE FOR 'S Wonderful

5. 'The Gay Divorcee' is one of the old Fred & Ginger Rogers movies, and the next 2 #'s are from that picture. CLICK HERE FOR A Needle In A Haystack

6. No Fred or Ginger this time. Edward Everett Horton is the guy in the #, and he appeared in a few Fred & Ginger movies back around that time. The girl you should recognize because it's a very young Betty Grable. CLICK HERE FOR Let's K-nock K-neez

7. This last one isn't even from an Astaire movie, it's a Doris Day film called 'Please Don't Eat the Daisies'. I watched it the other day, and got this song stuck in my head. CLICK HERE FOR Any Way The Wind Blows

Song Fu Winners: The Rifftones

Since we've been following the 2nd Song Fu challenge here at Spintown, I thought I'd mention that Bill Corbett, Mike Nelson, and Kevin Murphy — aka The RiffTones — have now been crowned the champion of Quick Stop’s “Masters of Song Fu” tournament. On to todays videos...

Super Note: Update #4
Rhett & Link give us another update on how the contest is going.

Single Man dances to SINGLE LADIES

I tried to post this yesterday, but I was laughing too hard at the time. This dude is the funniest thing I've ever watched online, and he seems completely serious about everything.

David Choi - Pick It
The video is a little nasty, but Choi does a great job again at getting his fans involved in his music. Not a bad little diddy either.

AC/DC Rock N Roll Train
Have you ever wondered what an AC/DC music video would look like in Excel.....wonder no more.

Boogie Swing
Live music & swing dancing, 2 things that Spintown loves.

Boogie Swing - The most amazing home videos are here

Best Of The Rest:

Sorry, no videos for the 'Best Of The Rest' today. Been busy, and I warned you I might have to slow down with the new job. I go back to college in Jan. to work on my 2nd degree, so don't expect me to spoil you like I did most of this month on a regular basis.

Featuring: Tommy Knox

I can't believe I hadn't heard of this guy before Saturday. I also can't believe he doesn't have more subscribers. In just 1 day he became one of my favorite You Tubers, and everyone that reads this needs to go check out his channel.

Nerd Dance

I don't know if this was during a talent show, pep rally or what; but this nerd has moves.

Physical Education
This is a musical number from some TV movie or show called "Junior High School" made back in 1978.

Wonder Girls - Nobody
I should have linked to this long ago, but somehow I forgot to. Great music video.

Gabe Bondoc - Superhuman (original)
Gabe has uploaded a number a good original songs to You Tube lately. If he keeps it up David Choi may no longer be my favorite male You Tuber singer.

Best Of The Rest:

1. I haven't been a subscriber to WinterBand for very long so I don't know a lot about them other then they jam well together. I read this in the description of the linked to video, "Special thanks to Bobo on bass, and especially the Dept of Corrections for allowing him to do this as part of work release." kingleg - Kazoo Quartet

I almost decided to feature kingleg today, even though I decided against it you'll find a few more videos from the kingleg channel in the Best Of The Rest below. I also want to thank the You Tube channel PopTub, because since I subscribed to their channel it's like they do half of my work for me. They give me the heads up on a lot of good links for this blog, and today is a great example. They linked to a kingleg video, so I checked out the channel and ended up getting 6 of my videos for today. I think there's only 1 video I didn't get from them today (that's usually not the case), so check out PopTub on You Tube.

Android Rap Song (G1 Love)
Not Data from Star Trek, but the Google Android...still a good video.

Attraction Blacklight Theatre
These guys get pretty creative with blacklights.

coomadoug - Taken for Granted (original)
Here's another original song from Doug...I would like his videos a lot more if he didn't feature those stupid dogs so much. Sort of weird, like the old lady that lives with 20 cats down the road.

Fantasy Football: The Rap

I just happened across this yesterday on You Tube. I'm currently 1 game over .500 in both of my fantasy football leagues right now, how are you doing?

Brian Bauer - Distortion!
Brookers linked to this on Twitter, and I thought it was a cool video.

Distortion!!! from Brian Bauer on Vimeo.

Of Montreal - Id Engager
I forget how I came across this video, I think it was featured on Epic Fu. Anyways it's a good song, with a creative video.

Jake and Amir @ CollegeHumor Live
Amir tries his hand at singing near the end of this live performance. I love this show, besides the Retarded Policeman it's probably my favorite show on the net.

6. The final songs for the Song Fu challenge have been uploaded. I've been a big fan of The Rifftones during this competition, but their recent song for the final round disappointed me a bit. CLICK HERE FOR Love Theme from JAWS (When a Man Loves a Shark) If you've forgotten the rules for this last round of competition here's the jist.

...envision a world in which composer John Williams was never hired to write the now-iconic scores for the Lucas and Spielberg films of the 1970’s (JAWS, CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND, 1941, and STAR WARS). Imagine instead that the filmmakers decided to go with that other staple of the 70’s - a tailor-made pop tune. Think THE POSEIDEN ADVENTURE’s “The Morning After”. You must choose one of those 1970’s Williams-scored Spielberg/Lucas flicks and write “The Song From…” that the film never had, in the style of a 1970’s pop tune (particularly in your instrumentation).

The song must be at least 1min 45sec, and must be an original creation.

7. To me Jason Morris saved his best for last, and this is probably the first round I wouldn't have voted for The Rifftones. CLICK HERE FOR Take Me Home (The Song from CLOSE ENCOUNTERS) If you want to vote for which song you like best go HERE.

How To Dance Sexy

Before we get to the videos I would like to mention that I'm working on a sequel to the "Internet Dance" video I made awhile back. This time I plan on featuring Internet celebrities & well known You Tubers though. So if anyone out there wants to be in the video just make a 5-10 sec video of yourself dancing, post it on You Tube & send me the link. On to the videos...

This first video may not be what you're expecting...just a warning.

Gabe Bondoc - YTS (original)
I really liked this song he uploaded yesterday. It's about falling in love with a You Tuber...I was thinking about Kina Grannis during most of the video.

Nicholas Barron Band - Saviour
Great song & performance.

Lois Mahalia - Smile
I don't think I've ever linked to this chick, but if I hear more songs like this you'll see more of her here.

Best Of The Rest:

1. This is a really old music video by Dawn Gable, probably something she wishes she could erase from history. CLICK HERE FOR Heavy On The Sunshine

2. So far the You Tube show "Hooking Up" has been a bit disappointing, but I thought this was sort of funny. CLICK HERE FOR Emily's Vlog

3. Usually mememolly doesn't create videos that would belong in this blog, so I had to link to her most recent video when I saw it. CLICK HERE FOR woo!

4. After that huge freaking post I did containing 20+ McCain & Obama songs you would think I could go just 1 day and not post something about them... CLICK HERE FOR Oh McCain

5. Another song about the election... CLICK HERE FOR The Presidential Rap

6. If you live near Cincinnati there isn't much to cheer about as far as professional sports goes. I stick with my teams through thick & thin however, so when I came across a song about the Cincinnati Reds that I hadn't heard before I decided to post it. What's even better is the band name...Screaming Mimes. CLICK HERE FOR Three Cheers Cincinnati

7. I don't like this video as much, but my Bengals need all the love they can get right now since they still haven't won a game this year. I keep praying Mike Brown will sell the team to an owner who knows how to run a football team. CLICK HERE FOR Who Dey Rap

Featuring: Danxzen

The Final Challenge of the current Song Fu battle has been announced. This was copied from the Song Fu blog.

For this final duel between Master and Challenger, you must envision a world in which composer John Williams was never hired to write the now-iconic scores for the Lucas and Spielberg films of the 1970’s (JAWS, CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND, 1941, and STAR WARS).

The deadline for delivery of the song is 11:59pm EST on TUESDAY, OCTOBER 21st.

I'll post links to the final 2 songs when they're uploaded, should be interesting. For now lets get to todays featured artist. I was watching 'Epic Fu' the other day, and Zadi featured a small clip from a music video that looked really cool. The clip was credited to someone with a vimeo account called "Danxzen". So I looked it up, and discovered a few more cool music videos uploaded to this account. I hope you enjoy.

Do The "Lurch"?

Before you get to the videos, I want to let people know that I may start updating this blog at a more random schedule. I'll still try to update about every day, but I'll be starting a new job soon. So I may not update around 12-4AM which is when I typically have been updating.

I remember watching the Adams Family growing up, and I remember the character Lurch very clearly. However I do not remember a dance craze called the "Lurch".

Nathan Wills AKA paradigma

This You Tuber has some real talent, and I'm hoping he creates some videos that would go well in this blog. If you subscribe to SMP Films, or if you've just watched a few of Cory's AKA Mr. Saftey's videos, you might have heard some of his music before.

Take A Bow (cover)
Happy Slip not only does a cover, but then uses her own lyrics to improve the song.

MR AUDIO PREVIEW
You Tube users should have noticed the "Audio Preview" button recently added by now. David Choi not only noticed it, he used it to write a song.

McCain vs Obama on You Tube

I've been getting sick of all the Obama songs going around the net, and I've posted a number of them. So far I've been a little 1 sided by only posting pro Obama stuff. That's not really my fault though as I usually only post political videos when they get popular. Since the net seems mostly liberal naturally there's going to be more pro Obama music videos. Just search the news section of Digg if you don't think most people are leaning left online. Anyways I decided to put my blog more in the middle by finding some pro McCain videos for today. One problem though...in searching for McCain music videos I found about 4 or 5 pro McCain videos along with dozens more pro Obama or anti McCain. So I'm featuring the pro McCain videos, while putting all the pro Obama stuff in the Best Of The Rest...which will be HUGE today.

Raising McCain - John Rich
This is by far the most popular pro McCain song I could find.

Me & John McCain
Funny song written by someone who may like McCain too much.

Why are blacks supporting Obama?
rehdogg timed uploading this video perfectly. I already had this post prepared when I saw this come up in my subscriptions page. The song is cool, but hopefully he'll do another version with a cool video to go along.

Johnny Be Good
They've used the song Johnny B. Goode as a theme song during this election...this is an altered version.

Best Of The Rest:

I'm actually including a few pro McCain videos in this section as well, but most will be pro Obama & anti McCain.

Featuring: ihatemorningsdotcom AKA Ben Walker

This is someone who seems to be up & coming on You Tube. He's doing some sort of challenge to write 50 songs in 90 days. Reminds me a bit of Jonathan Coulton, and his Thing A Week project in which he wrote 1 song each week for a year. He has his own website ihatemornings & You Tube channel. Here's my favorite 4 videos from his channel.

The Twitter Song

You've Been Missing Everything I Do

Turn It Off And Turn It On Again (Ballad Of The I.T. Guy)

Disturbia - Rihanna (cover)

Before you get to the videos you should notice the Best Of The Rest has expanded to include 7 videos now. I don't know how long I'll keep posting 11 items a day, but if I keep finding enough material I'll make the change permanent. If I still have extra material, I'll start posting them as extras on Twitter. But we'll see how this goes first...on to the first video....

Kina Grannis doesn't do a lot of popular covers, so this is really a treat.

SUPERNOTE UPDATE #2
Rhett & Link give us a little update on how the Super Note contest is going. Have you made your Super Note yet?

Prof Klein's Vlog - Dance
Hooking Up is an online show staring a bunch of You Tube celebrities. Nalts has a character in the show, and I thought this clip was sort of funny.

Robot Dancing Partner

Before we get to the videos I'd like to remind you that you can follow me on Twitter, links on the right. I only have 5 followers, but I noticed one of them is Andrew Baron a producer for http://www.rocketboom.com/. Great site, if you don't know what it is check it out I've been a fan for a long time. I don't tweet much, but I always give a tweet about each blog update. Eventually I plan on posting links to extra content on Twitter, that may not make the blog.

This is a little creepy, we're now 1 step closer to robots taking over the Earth.

Cigarettes & Chocolate Milk

Kendama Music
I love the Japs, I just wish I could pick up more of their television programming over here.

I didn't get this from the devilishlypure channel, but you'll notice it's the same people.

One Man Rock Band
This dude just can't share the spotlight, so he does everything himself.

A Whole New World
Looking through different channels today, and found someone really into Disney songs. Had a lot of videos on the channel, but not much worth posting. Here's probably the best of the bunch.

Beat the Horse
Pomplamoose just posted another good video. I think I'll post a Nataly Dawn video for Tuesday; I've had one ready to post for awhile, but for one reason or another I never got around to it. Nataly is the chick in the Pomplamoose videos, and Jack Conte is the dude.
