The Way You Make Me Feel

David Choi sang a cover of "Ben" shortly before Michael Jackson's death. Now he's singing another cover in his memory.

Eclectic Method
This is a mashup of various Michael Jackson songs & performances. It's a nice tribute video that brings back some memories.

Heal The World
Sarah LaMantia pays tribute to the great Michael Jackson.

Words Stuck
I really liked this Jonathan Mann song. I'm looking forward to seeing how he does in the next Song Fu tournament.

Loony Looziana Legislature
"Hurricane Chris performs an inappropriate and lurid rap song for the Louisiana State House of Representatives." If I lived in Louisiana I'd move to another state after my representatives let something like this happen.

Lions, Tigers & Bears
Jessica Sanchez does a fine job with this Jazmine Sullivan song.

Enter The Dragon
"Hip hop artist Spec Boogie, has been mashing up original lyrics with Hollywood's finest motion pics. It's always nice to see someone deliver hip hop with some degree of originality and artistry."

Stand By Me

Spintown News:
I think I'm having a very bad reaction to some pain killers at the moment...forgive any errors in this blog today.

Stand By Me
On June 24, Iranian Superstar Andy Madadian went into an LA recording studio with Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora and American record producers Don Was and John Shanks to record a musical message of worldwide solidarity with the people of Iran. This version of the old Ben E. King classic is not for sale - it was not meant to be on the Billboard charts or even manufactured as a CD.....it's intended to be downloaded and shared by the Iranian people...to give voice to the sentiment that all people of the world stand together....the handwritten Farsi sign in the video translates to "we are one". If you know someone in Iran - or someone who knows someone in Iran - please share this link.

Nah Bitch!
Hot Ham N Cheese is such a great rap name.

Michael Jackson Is Dead

Spintown News:
A lot more videos have came out about Michael Jackson. People are singing covers as tributes, vlogging about how he should be remembered, and even a few new songs have been written about him. Yesterday I featured a few MJ videos, but today that's all I'm going to feature or link to. R.I.P. Michael.

Michael Jackson Is Dead
Jon Lajoie calls out the media like only he can.

I Used To Worship Michael Jackson
Jonathan Mann makes a touching tribute video to MJ.

Man In The Mirror
Gabe Bondoc covers one of my favorite MJ songs.

On The Line
The Michael Jackson YouTube channel recently uploaded a lot of songs to the account. Links to other songs will be in the BOTR section.

Michael Jackson Dies!

Spintown News:
Michael Jackson the King Of Pop dies! CLICK HERE FOR The Story. The guy was a totally nut case, but the world did lose a great artist yesterday. No matter what the guy did or didn't do in his private life, he was certainly one of the greatest entertainers in history. In the BOTR section I posted reaction videos about Michael's death, along with 4 of my favorite music videos.

Man In The Mirror
Chris Cendana remembers Michael by singing his favorite song.

University A Cappella! The Documentary
In 2009 Ben Folds released a greatest hits record, of sorts, sung entirely in a cappella. The album, Ben Folds Presents: Unviersity A Cappella! features two tracks performed by Ben himself, but the bulk of the material was performed by various university a cappella groups. Here's a video about the experience.

Apologize
Olivia Thai does a great job with this One Repbulic song.

You Came Out
This is the official music video for the We Have Band song. Created by W+K creative team Ida Gronblom & Fabian Berglund and Blinkink director David Wilson. The face paint animation film is made up of 4,816 separate stills. Each and every frame was hand-painted, shot, wiped off and redrawn, slightly differently for the next frame in order to create a seamless sequence. This time-consuming process involved the band members lying still for two consecutive days in a studio. In order to animate the singing bit, lip movement was created by animating a painted mouth on the singer Dede. This involved breaking the lyrics into phonetics and giving each sound a specific mouth shape. To make this as realistic as possible all the mouth shapes were painted on Dedes face individually and then shot.

Scratchophone
The Scratchophone is a portable Scratch instrument, featuring a turntable, a special tonearm, scratch mixer, and a pair of speakers. It can even be used with a cordeless power supply.

Please Don't Leave Me
I never really liked this song, but Alyssa Bernal does an alright job with it. The best part is the good news she has after the song.

Old Guy Dancing For Jesus
Make a joyful noise, and dance like a fool.

Esmee Denters
This is a short video about how Esmee went from making YouTube videos to releasing her new album.

The Climb

This collab from ahmirTV & David Sides makes the 207th cover of this Miley Cyrus song that I've featured or linked to.....and yes all 207 were better then the original Miley version.

Press Hop
This is a funny remix of Iverson, Mora, Green, Namath, Gundy & T.O. by Steve Porter.

The Boogie Woogie Kid
Matthew Ball is my favorite piano playin' YouTuber, and he recently did a TV interview & performance. This first video is the interview, and the next is the video.

You Chose To Be A Dick
If you read yesterday's blog you know that 1 of my Song Fu votes went to Steve Chatterton. Little did I know he had a YouTube account, and a video posted for his Song Fu entry.

Balloon Man
Skip Banks does a funny dance as a giant balloon. The video starts off slow, but give it a chance.

Ignition

Spintown News:
The songs from Round 3 of Song Fu 4 are now available, and you can vote on your favorites HERE! My top 5 songs are listed in the BOTR section, along with a few others that I enjoyed this round. Keep in mind that just because I don't link to your song, it doesn't mean that I think you're material is bad. I've had a few people assume that at times, but it just means that I liked other songs more that particular round. There have been songs I didn't like, and I've mentioned some of them in this blog. If I don't call you out, don't assume you know what I think of your music. I appreciate the talent of all the participants, and wish everyone luck.

Ignition
John Pascuzzi plays an electronic-ish, rock-ish type groove played on an "igil". The igil is a folk instrument from the country of Tuva, traditionally played acoustically and used to accompany Throat Singing. There's only a single thread on this instrument.

Pole Dancer
'UsLaGirl' is probably the hottest chick on YouTube. This dance was originally danced to "Change" by the Deftones, but the audio was disabled due to copyright issues.

Never Say Never
Kina Grannis takes on a song from The Fray.

Use Somebody
YouTuber 'singindork888' takes on a Kings Of Leon song.

Best Of The Rest:

2. In the song they wonder if anyone will miss them, I for one will if they don't enter the next tournament. CLICK HERE FOR Swan Song by His Name Is Legs.

5. After reading the title of this song, I was so glad it went in a totally different direction then I had imagined. CLICK HERE FOR You Chose To Be A Dick by Steve Chatterton.

6. This almost made my top 5, the more I listened to it the more I liked it. If I would have waited until Thursday to vote, maybe it would have made it. CLICK HERE FOR Bomb Squad Girl by Godz Poodlz.

7. Reverse psychology never works on me, but I ended up singing along this time. CLICK HERE FOR Don't Sing Along by Caleb Lee.

Everybody

Yesterday I mentioned that there isn't as many good lip dub videos anymore, and now I'm leading off the blog with yet another lip dub. YouTubers 'moymoypalaboy' show us how a lip dub should be done. It's all about PERSONALITY! There should be a version of American Idol for lip dub videos.

Robocop
Again I'd like to mention my strong dislike for Kanye West, but this is a really cool fan video.

Cut It Out
It's uncle Joey from Full House, and someone wrote a song about his old catch phrase.

Nathan Wills
I hope Nathan does more collabs like this one with YouTuber 'KlassicMaster'.

Hey Father

Spintown News:
There's a couple things going on worth mentioning today. First I think I've talked Jonathan Mann into competing in Song Fu 5 whenever that starts. He's another talented song writer that has previosly competed in SongFight.org which is something I plan on looking into. I'll probably start following it, much like I do Song Fu.

Another thing I wanted to bring up is that Steve sent me about 40 seconds of animation for my next video. Looks good, but a couple small changes might need to be made. It's going slowly, but he's doing good work thus far.

Lastly, I've got all the music I need for the next 2 Pain For Laughs videos. The rest is up to me, I started looking for material today, but honestly I can't say exactly how long it'll take me to get finished. I'll try to get a little done each weekend, for a few weeks. Once I feel like I've got enough new material I'll probably spend an entire weekend making just 1 of them. They're relatively simple to make, but more time consuming then you might think. Especially since I'm working on a couple other side projects, one of which I haven't told anyone about yet.

Hey Father
Because it's Father's Day, I'll lead off with this Gabe Bondoc song. Personally Father's Day is depressing since my dad passed away some years ago, but I'm thankful I had a great dad when so many have not.

Fannie Mae
I think they should have just left New Orleans underwater, and said to heck with it. But I'm glad Grandpa Elliott is still making great music, he should just move to Ohio. :p

Bucket Drummer
Here's the latest street drummer to go viral.

Tutting
It would be so cool if Moon got on the next season of "So You Think You Can Dance" since Pacman is currently on it. By the way I hope you're voting for Pacman each week.

Sham Wow Now
YouTuber 'thecomputernerd01' released another scatterbrained rap video on Sunday.

Rock That Body

Spintown News:
Sorry today's post was late. I fell asleep at like 8:00 PM last night. Got up today, and had other things to take care of. The Sunday blog will be on time though, I promise.

Remember when there were viral videos coming out every day of people doing a funny lip sync? Fortunately there are still a few people who haven't quit making them, like YouTuber 'BeenerKeeKee1995'.

Last Train To Awesometown
This is my favorite Parry Gripp song other than the classic "Hampster On A Piano".

Civilization
Civilization (by Marco Brambilla), a video mural created for the new Standard hotel in New York City, depicts a journey from hell to heaven interpreted through modern film language using computer-enhanced found footage. The Fathers Of The Founding Fathers

Hank Green writes a great Father's Day song.

I Quit
Someone asked Jonathan Mann to write a song that he could use to quit his job. It's a great idea, and Jonathan Mann was up to the task.

You Will Be Loved
This is a very simple video, but great original song from YouTuber 'chestersee'.

Can I Have This Dance
2 of my favorite YouTubers, Jen Chung & Gabe Bondoc, team up to cover a "High School Musical" number.

Stuck In Limbo
A couple weeks ago I featured a number from a musical called "Double Digits" created by Abby Simons (songsfromahat on YouTube) & Nathan Kersey-Wilson. Here's another number from the musical, and it just makes me want to see the entire thing even more.

Autumn Leaves

1st Goodbye
Jeanine & Alexis Mason do a great lyrical duet together, and if they look familiar it's probably because Jeanine is currently dancing on "So You Think You Can Dance". She made the top 20, and is doing great thus far.

Stop Pain Start Dancing

Spintown News:
The votes are in for Round 2 of Song Fu 4. The first thing I noticed is an extreme drop off in the number of people who voted this round. The website claims that there was only 351 total voters, when in round 1 there was almost 1,300. That's a BIG drop off, and I'm guessing a lot of other people besided myself thought the challenge was lame. Berg & Jerry got the victory this round by 8 votes over Tom Milsom. The top 10 vote getters are listed below:

Berg & Jerry - "This Day Shall Be Mine" (68 Votes)
Tom Milsom - "March As A Mad Hare" (60 Votes)
Ian & Melissa - "Song FUneral March" (50 Votes)
Gorbzilla - "March Of The Geeks (Semi-Autobiographical)" (48 Votes)
Sara Parsons - "Let's Have An Awkward March" (46 Votes)
The Perfect Place - "March Of The Clandestine Ninjas" (40 Votes)
Edric Haleen - "Whispered In Your Ear" (38 Votes)
Steve Chatterton - "The Only Way I Know" (34 Votes)
Denise Hudson - "Anna's Gerbil & The Singularity" (34 Votes)
The Scribbles - "The Student's Revenge" (33 Votes)

The Round 3 Challenge looks a little more promising, but when I first read the word 'standard' I got excited hoping they would be creating songs in the style of people like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin & Nat King Cole.

For your third challenge, you are to write a standard song. I am defining a “standard song” as one with a definite melody and a chorus that repeats at least once (to clarify: the chorus should appear at least twice in the song). However, your song must run EXACTLY 1 minute in length - no shorter, and no longer. You can write on any topic.
In the BOTR section I posted the rest of the Paul And Storm concert that Mike Lombardo recently recorded.

Stop Pain Start Dancing
This video was done in conjunction with The Arthritis Foundation and DRJ Group, makers of StopPain. This is just a fun video to remind people to keep on dancing and moving! The video is being used to help promote The Arthritis Foundation's campaign "Let's Move Together to promote their popular walks. So remember! Stop Pain Start Dancing!

Twitter Song

Spintown News:
After getting through the first half of the Song Fu 4 songs for Round 2 I was extremely disappointed. I actually wanted to stop listening, despite a couple good song ideas. The second half really picked up, and I found 7 songs I liked. It was hard to narrow them down to a top 5, but my picks are in the BOTR section below. CLICK HERE if you want to listen to all the songs from this round, and vote on your favorites.

Twitter Song
Gabe Bondoc wrote what might be my favorite song about Twitter.

Cruel, Cruel Moon
The song isn't new, but YouTuber 'spiffworld' did a great job making a video for this song from Paul & Storm.

Jonas Brothers Rap
The Zipster disturbs & entertains with his latest music video.

Best Of The Rest:

1. Maybe I liked this song because I could relate to it. Props to Gorbzilla, this was my favorite song. CLICK HERE FOR March Of The Geeks

2. I liked the idea Jutze Schult went with. CLICK HERE FOR March 2003

3. I don't really like the music to march by theme for this round, but Sara Parsons made me laugh. CLICK HERE FOR Lets Have An Awkward March

4. Perfect Place wrote a song about ninjas & pirates...of course it's in my top 5. CLICK HERE FOR March Of The Clandestine Ninjas

5. Lex Vader almost didn't get my vote just because the length of this song. CLICK HERE FOR Doomsday March

6. These next 2 songs didn't make my top 5, but they came close, especially this Tom Milsom song. CLICK HERE FOR March As A Mad Hare

7. This song from Steve Chatterton is the last Song Fu song I'm linking to today. CLICK HERE FOR The Only Way I Know

Fallout 3 Is Nutz!

Zoron, from ClipCritics, sings a diddy about Fallout 3.

DaveyDanceBlog #64
This is a clip of all your favorite College Humor personalities busting a move. This was done during this years 'All Nighter' marathon.

Kanye West Gay Fish Drawing
The only time I'll post a Kanye video is when we're joking at his expense.

Sing For Your Beef!
Shay Carl is pimping out A1. That's not important, but you can win free steaks by singing a song if you enter a contest A1 is holding. CLICK HERE FOR Details

I'm Too Bold
This is a pretty good song by rehdogg. Honestly I had to read some of the lyrics from the video description to understand them all, but I got into the song while doing that.

Lama Boy
I saw this on POPTUB the other day. Originally I watched POPTUB because of Maria Sansone...however it's become a great source for me.

Love Lost
Even if you don't like lyrical dance, you should try watching this routine. Ashley Gonzalez & Scott Myrick do an incredible job with Shannon Mather's choreography.
