The Fans Of Gabe Bondoc

Spintown News:
Today's blog post is a little different. Normally I feature popular YouTubers & popular viral videos that have to do with music or dance. Today I'm featuring the fans of 1 YouTuber...Gabe Bondoc. Gabe recently posted a video in which he sang the male part of "A Whole New World", and asked his fans to sing the female part. After going through 175 video responses looking for new talent to follow I decided to feature some of his fans. Not only will I be posting some of their video responses, and other videos from their pages, but a few even recorded brand new versions of "A Whole New World" at my request. I hope you enjoy this post, because I'd like to do more blogs like this, and I really hope Gabe appreciates the fans & the talent some of them displayed in response to his video.

PS: Sometimes YouTube Doubler can be a pain in the butt. So you might need to refresh the page or come back later if a video isn't working.

Kim Tran
Kim is still relatively unknown on YouTube (kimtraaan), but I'm guessing that could change if she keeps on singing. If you like her duet below I suggest you go subscribe to her channel HERE. Kim responded quickly when I contacted her about doing this, and she seems like a very nice girl. Keep in mind that I ran the video she sent me through 2 different applications that screwed the audio up a bit. Listening to her videos on her channel gives you a better idea of how incredibly talented this young lady is.

Make sure you follow the directions below or the videos will not be in sync. If you're reaction time is a little slow the videos may be a .5-1 sec off. So be QUICK, and hit the play button right as the #'s change.

To see these videos at YouTube Doubler CLICK HERE.

Sheila Pacariem
Sheila is just starting to grow a fan base on YouTube (mz8o8gurl), and now has over 2,000 subscribers. I'm hoping that number grows by at least a couple if you watch this duet. Sheila is used to singing duets, as it's something she does frequently on her YouTube channel. You can subscribe to her channel HERE, and see more of Kim & Sheila in the BOTR section below.

To see these videos at YouTube Doubler CLICK HERE.

Solis1112
This YouTuber decided not to sing at all. Instead he decided to make a mash-up video of Gabe & another YouTuber who is used to singing the male or female vocals...Nick Pitera.

SirhcEz
Out of the 175+ video responses that Gabe got, most were young girls. (shocking I know) There were a few guys that posted responses though. Chris did a pretty good job considering he was singing the female part.

noddonnoddon
Don is another guy that decided to sing the female role with Gabe (not that there's anything wrong with that :p ), but I featured him for his creativity more so then his voice. Good work Don.

James Story
I had no plans to feature a video not related to Gabe today. I subscribed to Kim & Sheila though, and Kim posted this sweet video just the other day. I thought I'd show you yet another reason to go subscribe to her channel.

Spintown News:
Do you want to animate a brentalfloss music video? Even better, would you like to be paid to do so? If you've got some skills, go bid on a job I just posted at iFreelance. Only artists who have the required skills need apply, and those who give an example of their work as described in the description will get serious consideration.

Charles?
A little while back I posted a dancer doing a funny dance to Taylor Swift's "Love Story". This is the only other video I've found including that dancer (Charles). If anyone else knows where to see more videos of him please let me know.

In this video he draws Dr. Brandon, Monkey/Half Pony & Scarface from Jonathan Coulton's Skullcrusher Mountain.

7 Things (ASL Song)

Spintown News:
I'm sorry my review of Song Fu 4 Round 1 is late. I forgot to put the CD I burned into my car before I left for work yesterday. So I just finished listening to everything in the car today. Anyways my review is in the BOTR section, with links to my favorite songs. To listen to all the songs, and vote on your favorites CLICK HERE!

In other news Brent Black sent me a demo for the song he's writting for me. He recorded the first 1/3 of the song, and wanted me to greenlight the rest of the song if I liked the demo. I LOVED the demo so hopefully in the not too distant future the entire song will be recorded. I'm talking with a couple animators who might be willing to animate the entire song for YouTube as well. I've got someone I'd really like to hire in mind, but I'm waiting on him to respond via e-mail at the moment. The big problem is I can't afford to pay much, so we'll see what happens.

7 Things (ASL Song)
These ASL songs rock, but why pick a Miley Cyrus song to cover?

NYPD Studio Demo
I feel a little less dirty after watching this, then the typical pole dance video that I post.

Outta Here
Olivia Thai does an Esmee Denters cover.

Butter Poo
I think I'll be laying off the butter for awhile...

Nuki Nuki
Here's the latest Gummy Bear song.

I Can't Tell You Why
Ana Free covers The Eagles in her latest video.

Immunize
Give it up for the The Nortorious P.I.G. featuring Lady N1 & Lil Boobonik.

Best Of The Rest:

Here's a reminder of what the Challenge was for Round 1 of Song Fu this time:

Write a song from the perspective of an inanimate object. This inanimate object must have no moving parts. Also no computers, no objects that look like living things, either human or animal (i.e. a statue, an action figure, etc.), and no celestial objects (i.e. the sun or the moon). Your song can be in any style you choose.

That’s it. The only other directive is that your song must run no shorter than 1 minute 45 seconds.

I was really disappointed that Molly Lewis didn't get a chance to submit a song for the first round of the competition. On the bright side a lot of the new competitors turned out to have talent. There wasn't much that stood out to me as being a great song, but almost all of them were entertaining. It seemed like most of the songs had something about them I really liked. Whether it was a good story, creative lyrics or just a good tune. Like I said though, few put it all those elements together in my opinion. Here's my top 10 picks from Round 1, for whatever it's worth:

1. Jarrett Heather - Trapped Inside Your Sofa

2. Caleb Lee - How Man Years Bad Luck If You Break A Mirror's Heart

3. AudioMohel - Hubcap Without A Home

4. Denise Hudson - Leave The Stone Alone, Yep

5. Lex Vader - Just A Rock

6. Edric Haleen - All For This Moment

7. "Buckethat" Bobby Matheson - Noose

8. Jeremy Pierson - Your Welcome Mat

9. Sara Parsons - Throw Me Away

10. Tom Milsom - The Raincoat's Lament

Well that's my top 10. If I was to sit here & think about it a little longer I might switch a few around, but these were definately my favorites for the round. There were a couple songs I'd like to make honorable mentions, because I really enjoyed them as well. Mike Lombardo - Rock Song & Andrew Thomson - Someplace 2 Land: Bush's Flight Suit's Lament

2 Girls 1 Cup Rock Cover
Besides the reaction videos, this is the best thing that has come from that sick video being uploaded.

Part Of The List
Marie Digby does a Ne-Yo cover.

Gentlemen Don't
Gabe Bondoc sings an original song. FYI: Gabe is somewhat involved in an on going Spintown project...even though he doesn't know it yet.

Ross Ching made a great unofficial music video for this Death Cab For Cutie's song.

Broken
This is a great song & video from Eg White.

Code Monkey Dance Montage
Emily (Code Monkey Dance Girl) Mark convinced Jonathan Coulton to include a montage of fans doing the Code Monkey Dance on his DVD. I sent in a video of myself doing about 1/3 of the dance so I could be included in the montage. Here's the finished video, right from the DVD. I know I look like a twit & I'm a terrible dancer by any standards, but it was fun. I'm the first & last person shown in the video, and I'm credited first. The entire DVD is incredible so go buy it, or buy some of JoCo's tracks by going to I-Tunes or his website HERE. You can see the original Code Monkey Dance & other great dances on Emily's YouTube channel HERE.

Mike Tyson's Punch Out!! WITH LYRICS

Spintown News:
Sorry I missed a couple days, but I have some words of advice. Next time your doctor tells you to finish off all of your antibiotics even if you feel fine....do it. I thought my strep throat was gone, but it came back with a vengeance because I didn't finish my meds.

Since I didn't post for a couple days I do have a ton of great videos backed up to share. Today's post is really good, don't skim, watch all the features...

Mike Tyson's Punch Out!! WITH LYRICS

Consequence 3

Spintown News:
Things have been super slow during the past 3 days online. There's just not a lot of great content coming out right now, so you're getting a mini-blog today.

I do have some good news though. I've got a great idea for a blog in which I'll be collaborating with multiple talented (yet mostly unknown) YouTubers. I've already had 2 agree to help me out, but I don't expect to actually post anything until the end of the month. Until then you'll just have to wait, but I might drop a few hints about what's going on during the next 9 days.

Spintown News:
My live Jonathan Coulton DVD came in the mail yesterday. I just finished watching myself do the code monkey dance with other YouTubers on the DVD...how freakin' sweet is that?!

Brent Black (brentalfloss) sent me the first complete draft of lyrics yesterday as well. So progress is being made with that project. I should be getting a couple more songs from YouTubers this month for Pain For Laughs videos. Going to be very busy in the near future editing...

The Punch Out Rap

Spintown News:
Song Fu 4 has officially begun. The challengers have all been revealed, as well as the first round challenge. CLICK HERE FOR List Of Challengers

I was disappointed to see that Hank Green & Jeff MacDougall weren't in the competition this time around. Hank did an incredible job in his first attempt in Song Fu 3, while Jeff is always one of my favorites. However Molly Lewis (Song Fu 3 winner) is back to defend her title, and new comer Tom Milsom will probably add a lot to the competition. There's a lot of new faces in the competition, along with past favorites like Mike Lombardo, so it looks like a pretty good mix of talent.

The first challenge seems pretty easy by Song Fu standards:

Write a song from the perspective of an inanimate object. This inanimate object must have no moving parts. Also no computers, no objects that look like living things, either human or animal (i.e. a statue, an action figure, etc.), and no celestial objects (i.e. the sun or the moon). Your song can be in any style you choose.

The Punch Out Rap
Because of the new Punch Out for the Nintendo Wii, there's been a lot of new Punch Out related viral videos going around lately.

DuckTales Theme Gone Horribly Wrong

Greg Pritchard
After listening to Greg on Britain's Got Talent, did anyone else think of YouTuber Nick Pitera?

Cool Hand Luke - Inappropriate Soundtracks
I love these Inappropriate Soundtracks. Ending with another Punch Out viral video is a good way to finish off the features for today as well.

The Shures & Nick Pitera do a Lady Gaga cover together. Nick's voice is incredible in this video. A lot of the time it's too girlie, but not in this video.

D.C. Sleeps
This is a great video from Phillip Pacman Chbeeb. The choreo is by PacMan, Dominic (D-Trix) Sandoval & Hokuto "Hok" Konishi.

Anger (Better Than Despair)
I loved this original Tommy Knox song.

Single Ladies
This YouTuber did 2 "Single Ladies" dances. The original got a ton of views, but the one I featured is the better video. CLICK HERE FOR His Original

Band Of Horses, The General Specific
Who do you think does the better Video/Song: Julia Nunes or Jack Conte?

Live Jonathan Coulton & ASL

First Of May
Jonathan Coulton is great about doing stuff with fans. Remember back when Emily (the girl who created the Code Monkey Dance) got to dance with him onstage? Well now another YouTuber who created something for one of his songs is performing live on stage with him.

I Love Bayside
Here's a parody of the "I Love College" video. Man I feel like watching some Saved By The Bell now.

Bo Burnham On Late Night
Bo Burnham recently performed on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Hopefully this video gets to stay up awhile before YouTube yanks it for a copyright violation.

Unicorn In C Major
You'll never look at Unicorns the same way again...

No Safe Way
I figured this video is a good way to stay on topic with the blogs theme, and provide a short PSA.

Second Chance
Here's the latest cover from YouTuber 'singindork888'.

Part Of Your World
I wish more YouTubers would cover Disney songs. Gabe Bondoc does a great job with this one.

Best Of The Rest:

1. Written for Albert and Barbara. These two maintained a long distant relationship after meeting in Rome. Barbara had to stay in Italy while Albert had to come back to LA. They stayed connected through Skype and would take every chance they could to see each other. Eventually Albert proposed, Barbara said Yes and YouTuber 'chestersee' wrote this song. 2. Oh those japanese...they be crazy. CLICK HERE FOR Rocket Launch

3. AJ Rafael & AHMIR do a nice collab together. CLICK HERE FOR I Thought She Knew

4. Two Blokes, Two Ukes AKA 'browian01' on YouTube recently sent me a cover of the Pain For Laughs theme song which will be used in my next video. These 2 videos should tide you over until then. CLICK HERE FOR What I'd Say & CLICK HERE FOR Stand By Me

5. You don't have to speak the language to enjoy this video. CLICK HERE FOR Black & White Remix

6. This is a great lyrical routine choreographed by Rebekah Meinert. Unfortunately the original song had to be replaced because of a copyright claim. CLICK HERE FOR Group Dance

7. I didn't expect to post a video about Mount Rushmore today...but you never know what you'll come across on YouTube. CLICK HERE FOR Bohemian Rhapsody

Realistic Love Song

Spintown News:
Well it's finally here. You can now order the Jonathan Coulton live DVD online. I'm excited because I was told they would include a montage of fans dancing the Code Monkey dance. I sent in a video of myself doing the dance so I could be on the DVD. CLICK HERE FOR More Details

Realistic Love Song
YouTuber 'SuperSecretProject' uploaded a video that I promise will make you lol...multiple times.

Jake And Amir
Amir cracks me up in almost every episode of this web series. I love it when there's an episode that I can feature here.

Preshow
I already linked to these next 2 videos, but I had a couple people ask where to find them. Apparently not everyone reads the Spintown News section. So I decided to feature the entire Rhett & Link Concert that was recently held in Fairfield, Ohio.

Show
This is the second half the the concert.

Janeane Garafalo Naked
Don't worry, Janeane Garafalo is never shown naked in this video.

Skullcrusher Mountain
Acappella group Larger Rhythms does a great job with this Jonathan Coulton song.

Imbeciles
I liked this original song by YouTuber 'coomadoug'.
