YouTrax 23

Before I talk about the latest episode of YouTrax, I want to mention something that happened a month or so ago. In this blog I mentioned something about how I didn't enjoy the guests that YouTrax had on for a couple weeks. Well I got a reply from YouTrax saying they didn't appreciate that statement. My response to that will always be, "Then get some talent for your next show". The last show was pretty good, but I really enjoyed the most recent episode I'm featuring today. Not only do the singers have talent, but they were unknown to me. After watching the show I subscribed to Brittany Lee-Ann & Laura Broad on YouTube. To check out past episodes of YouTrax (the good & bad) CLICK HERE.

Virtual Girlfriend
Here's an original song from Laura Broad.

Edge Of The Universe
YouTuber 'ReinaDelCid' uploaded a great original song yesterday.

The Deer And The Cat
I almost hit a deer today, so maybe Jonathan Mann can write a song called "The Deer And The Car"?

Mystery Train
"Washboard Chaz & Roberto Luti combine their talents to create this New Orlean's version of a 1953 classic."

Jake & Amir (live)
My favorite episodes are the ones in which Amir tries to rap, and it's even better live.

JK Wedding Entrance Dance

This is the best wedding dance ever, it even beats out the original Thriller Wedding Dance.

25 Random Things
This is a great parody of the Miley Cyrus song "7 Things".

Turn And Smile
This song could be used on 90% of the sitcoms that have ever aired.

God Damn You're Beautiful
Chester See made an official music video for one of his songs. It was directed by Jonathan Nellis.

Falling In Love At A Coffee Shop
Gerald Ko does a Landon Pigg cover.

Love Story (from Romeo's Perspective)
I've heard a couple better versions of this from the male perspective, but this is still a good Taylor Swift cover from Gabe Bondoc.

Bill Irwin Break Dance
This video is a good example of why I subscribe to the Sesame Street YouTube channel.

Song Fight Review: I Will Be Acquitted

There were a couple decent songs in the last round of Song Fight. The voting is long over with, but you can see the results & listen to all the songs from I Will Be Acquitted. My favorite songs were from:
1. Sh*tload Of Dolphins - They made me laugh.
2. King Arthur
3. Jon Titterington
4. Pathetic Wannabees

You can listen to the songs from the current challenge HERE. The topic is "What Happens At The Butchers Convention?" 'They Meet' of course.

On Planets

Spintown News:
Still feel like crap, and I think I'm gonna have to break down and go to the doctor today. I was trying to avoid paying a $50 co pay, and the cost of meds. This is the 3rd day of not eating, feeling like crap & not working though, I'm finally caving...

On Planets
Here's the latest VideoSong from Jack Conte. In case you forgot the rules of making a VideoSong:
"1. What you see is what you hear (no lip-syncing for instruments or voice).
2. If you hear it, at some point you see it (no hidden sounds)."

Get Off My Phone
Here's a funny vampire/metal remix of the recent Glenn Beck freak out.

Woe, Hypocrites!
Ysabella Brave came out with a new song yesterday.

I'm On A Broom

Spintown News:
The problems with my YouTube channel seem to be fixed for the most part, so hopefully things will return to normal on here soon. Unfortunately for the past 20 hours or so, I've been sick as a dog. My stomach feels like it's getting it's butt kicked by my kidneys. I had to call off work yesterday, and I'm hoping I can go in later today.

I'm On A Broom
This is an "I'm On A Boat" parody from nayder07.

Birthday Sex Parody
ahmirTV made me laugh with this video. I think a lot of guys can relate to this.

My Space
Here's yet another parody, this time of a Frank Sinatra classic.

If You're Not The One
Pete Simson did a funny spoof of a Daniel Beddingfield song.

Pop Waffle 29
I normally link to or feature new Pop Waffle videos, but this time I'm actually mentioned & quoted in the episode. So what are you waiting for, hit play!

Wizard Rap Battle

Spintown News:
I know I haven't updated for a couple days, but that's because YouTube is acting a bit funny. I subscribe to over 400 channels, but I'm only getting updates from about 1/5 of them. I don't know if it's just buggy because of the new design YouTube is working on, or if it's something else. I might be missing even more updates in the near future.

Wizard Rap Battle
"Harry Potter vs. Voldemort in an epic rap battle to determine who is the ultimate wizard!"

State Of Shock
Ponceman & The Sap put together a cool Michael Jackson tribute.

Big Fish Tank
This is an incredible video that was shot in 1 take "at the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium in Japan. The main tank called the 'Kuroshio Sea' holds 7,500-cubic meters (1,981,290 gallons) of water and features the world's second largest acrylic glass panel, measuring 8.2 meters by 22.5 meters with a thickness of 60 centimeters. Whale sharks and manta rays are kept amongst many other fish species in the main tank. The music is "Please Don't Go" by Barcelona." This is the most beautiful video I've seen on YouTube to date...you have to watch it in HD.

Can't
This song was written & recorded by Alan Lastufka & Tom Milsom.

Coder Girl
Geeky girls rock. Give me a girl that can write HTML, and I'm a happy man.

There's Always An A-Hole On The Internet
The title of this song is 100% right. YouTube comments just seem to get meaner & meaner for instance.

YouTrax 22
This time YouTrax features The Shures & pays tribute to Michael Jackson.

Robot Girlfriend Song

Spintown News:
Over at Song Fight there's a bunch of new songs I need to check out. I probably won't get to it until Friday, but you can go listen to some by clicking the image below.

Robot Girlfriend Song
If YouTube changed the rules so that you could only subscribe to 10 people, this is a good example of why I'd still follow Rhett & Link.

Eric Whitacre's Virtual Choir
This is a cool idea, and the song is called "Sleep". Thank you 'POPTUB' for bringing this to my attention.

National Anthem
This is the most American video you will watch today. "The Star Spangled banner played on a Louisville Slugger bat by Glenn Donnellan of the National Symphony Orchestra."

The "Lost" Fan-Them

This is a well done fan tribute to the awesome television show Lost.

Clone Megan Fox
I don't really get the hype about this chick. She's definately hot, but I can think of a dozen other chicks in Hollywood I think are sexier. Flavor of the week or year I guess...

Myspace Is A Ghost Town
Whether it's a ghost town or not, I like it better then Facebook. I'm on both, but really don't do much with either though.

Michael Jackson Piano Medley
16 Songs in 7 Minutes: I Want You Back, Billie Jean, Rock With You, Ben, The Way You Make Me Feel, Off The Wall, Smooth Criminal, Human Nature, I'll Be There, Thriller, Black Or White, Bad, P.Y.T., Beat It, Man In The Mirror & We Are The World.

How To Do The Robot
I want to go back in time just to slap this chick.

Popping Freestyle
'TheRussianTiger' on YouTube recently messed up a knee ligament, but it doesn't look like it in this video.

Join Me And Fight
Reh Dogg needs to team up with Drinking With Bob because I think they're the only conservatives on YouTube besides myself. Sure seems that way at times.

Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis Special

Spintown News:
It's been awhile since I featured some of my favorite singers & dancers from way back when. So today I'm featuring 5 Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis clips. I hope you enjoy them, but on Tuesday I'll get back to posting more current videos.

It Doesn't Get Any Better
My favorite singer of all time (Dean Martin) teams up with my favorite dancer of all time (Gene Kelly) ...what more could you ask.

Singing In The Rain
Long before the above clip, Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis took on a Singing In The Rain bit on the Colgate Comedy Hour.

When You Pretend
This is a great segment from the movie Artists And Models.

The Typewriter Song
This is a fairly famous bit from Jerry Lewis. It's from the Colgate Comedy Hour, and the music is by Leroy Anderson.

You'll Never Get Away
"Jerry Lewis hurt his knee and couldn't perform on the Colgate Comedy Hour, so this is what happened in the end."

United Airlines Breaks Guitars

"In the spring of 2008, Sons of Maxwell were traveling to Nebraska for a one-week tour and my Taylor guitar was witnessed being thrown by United Airlines baggage handlers in Chicago. I discovered later that the $3500 guitar was severely damaged. They didnt deny the experience occurred but for nine months the various people I communicated with put the responsibility for dealing with the damage on everyone other than themselves and finally said they would do nothing to compensate me for my loss. So I promised the last person to finally say no to compensation (Ms. Irlweg) that I would write and produce three songs about my experience with United Airlines and make videos for each to be viewed online by anyone in the world. United: Song 1 is the first of those songs. United: Song 2 has been written and video production is underway. United: Song 3 is coming."

Best Proposal In History
This is definately the best marriage proposal I've seen, but I was waiting for Mickey Mouse to make an appearance.

Our American Cousin
This is the song that Molly Lewis wrote to beat Paul & Storm in Song Fu 3. I linked to the MP3 back then, but she just made this video.

Earth Song
Here's another Michael Jackson tribute, this time from Lisa Lavie.

Bogota Pole Dance
This chick can do things on a stripper pole that is unfreaking believable.

Hibi no Neiro

Spintown News:
A relative of Har Mar Superstar apparently stumpled into Spintown yesterday. He left a comment on Thursday's blog post. This video from Thursday's blog was removed, and replaced with this version. CLICK HERE FOR Body Request

Hibi no Neiro
"This music video was shot for Sour's 'Hibi no Neiro' (Tone of everyday). The cast was selected from the actual Sour fan base, from many countries around the world. Each person and scene was filmed purely via webcam."

Dont Trust Me
Honestly this isn't a song I would have expected Julia Nunes to cover, but I'm glad she did.

Heal The World
Rin On The Rox got around to paying tribute to the King Of Pop the other day.

Michael Jackson Medley
Andrew Garcia & Cathy Nguyen put together a pretty good medley in tribute to Michael Jackson. (I Want You Back - ABC's - Man In The Mirror - I'll Be There)

He-Man Meets Bollywood
This may be better then to classic 80's cartoon.

One Note Band
I thought this was a cool idea for a video, but it could have been done better.

Human
I enjoyed this dance duet, that was choreographed by Troy Herring.

Fred Drives Me Crazy!

Spintown News:
I've got some good news from Song Fu. It was revealed that Berg And Jerry would be going up against Molly Lewis in the final challenge. I was disappointed at the start of this tournament because I thought Molly was going to be a regular constestant. This makes up for that disappointment a little. The challenge was also revealed:

"Write a song about a journey. This journey must include 3 main characters. Your song can be in any style you choose....That’s it. The only other directive is that your song must run no shorter than 1 minute 4 seconds."
Fred Drives Me Crazy!
Dave Days & I have 1 thing in common....we dislike Fred videos.

The Girl At The Video Game Store
"Parry Gripp celebrates Attack of the Show's 1000th episode with a very special music video." Hopefully this doesn't get taken down too soon, since it isn't from a G4 related channel. If the embed stops working just CLICK HERE to watch it at the G4 website.

We Gamin'
This isn't just a funny nerd rap, but it also contains some pretty cool references for videogame nerds.

Beat It
YouTuber 'mattrach' made a Michael Jackson tribute that rocks.

Like A Douche?

This Boy
YouTubers 'jun626' & 'jamesnorthernva' team up for a cool colab.

One-Man Rap
I don't mind YouTubers pimping their products as long as they're creative about it. Tom Milsom gives us a good example of what I'm talking about.

Hopefully there will be a bunch of cool videos being posted soon from Kollaboration.

Web Site Story

Spintown News:
I mentioned I was going to start following songfight.org. Well a bunch (22) of new songs about Amsterdam were recently posted. When you get to the BOTR section below you'll notice I didn't link to any of the entries like I do when new Song Fu songs are uploaded. The reason being that all the songs sucked...at least all 15 that I listened to before I gave up hope. It might be worth a look if you're from Amsterdam, but otherwise lets just hope for better stuff next time.

My Song Fu round 3 update is a bit late, but here it is. Berg & Jerry won again, which means they squeeked out a victory in every singe round of the tournament. It also means they will move on to battle a Song Fu Master in the final round. More details on that to come in the next week. Here's the top 10 vote getters for round 3, along with my picks in bold:

1. Berg & Jerry - "Inside Jokes" (101 Votes)
2. The Scribbles - "We Miss You Yeti" (91 Votes)
3. Ian & Melissa - "Quickie" (63 Votes)
4. Caleb Lee - "Don't Sing Along" (48 Votes)
5. Godz Poodlz - "Bomb Squad Girl" (44 Votes)
6. Steve Chatterton - "You Chose To Be A Dick" (41 Votes)
7. Edric Haleen - "Acceptance" (36 Votes)
8. The Perfect Place - "wtfpeople20 (Three Short Stories)" (34 Votes)
9. Gorbzilla - "Minuteman" (29 Votes)
10. Sara Parsons - "I Can't Sleep (Manatee Dreams)" (29 Votes)

Darrell Maclaine - "Song" (25 Votes)
His Name Is Legs - "Swan Song" (15 Votes)

The next list is the total amount of votes that each individual or group got throughout the tournament. It's a shame that Tom Milsom & Caleb Lee missed 1 round of the tournament, because each of them had a chance of beating Berg & Jerry. It's also a shame we didn't get to hear more from Jarrett Heather, Mike Lombardo, AudioMohel & Bobby Matheson. I've really enjoyed most of the material they've came up with in these competitions. If someone missed a round, I included how many rounds they did participate in.

1. Berg & Jerry - 332 Votes
2. The Perfect Place - 233 Votes
3. Ian & Melissa - 216 Votes
4. The Scribbles - 191 Votes
5. Tom Milsom - 181 Votes (2)
6. Caleb Lee - 171 Votes (2)
7. Sara Parsons - 161 Votes
8. Gorbzilla - 155 Votes
9. Edric Haleen - 154 Votes
10. Godz Poodlz - 154 Votes
11. Steve Chatterton - 134 Votes
12. Lex Vader - 124 Votes
13. Jarrett Heather - 106 Votes (1)
14. Denise Hudson - 96 Votes
15. Darrell Maclaine - 92 Votes
16. Caleb Hines - 86 Votes
17. Jutze Schult - 77 Votes
18. Gremlins - 70 Votes (2)
19. Mike Lombardo - 68 Votes (1)
20. His Name Is Legs - 68 Votes
21. Travis Norris - 66 Votes
22. AudioMohel - 57 Votes (2)
23. Jalapeno Habaneros - 49 Votes
24. Richard Clayton Spring - 41 Votes
25. Miles From Nashville - 39 Votes (2)
26. Andrew Thomson - 35 Votes (2)
27. Austin & The Pudaks - 33 Votes (2)
28. Jeremy Pierson - 32 Votes (1)
29. Derrek J. Thompson - 28 Votes (2)
30. "Buckethat" Bobby Matheson - 27 Votes (1)

Web Site Story
This is the first of 3 clips that have to do with a musical. This video is a mashup of geek culture & West Side Story condensed into a few minutes.

Mike Song
This is a tutting routine, done to some Nintendo Wii music.

The PEN Story
To make this the creators shot 60,000 pictures, developed 9,600 prints, then shot over 1,800 pictures again. It's a very well done stop motion video.

Tweet Whore
I've posted about a dozen Twitter songs over the past couple years. This one isn't one of my favorites, but it's extremely popular since it's from YouTuber 'nigahiga'.

Origins Of The Moonwalk
I found this video very interesting. I was familiar with 6 of the people in the video, but hadn't heard of a lot of them.

a Musical
If real life was a musical I think it would be a lot like this video by Ettie Nir.

Here's another number from the musical 'Double Digits'. It was written by Abby Simons (songsfromahat) & Nathan Kersey-Wilson.

Uncle Sam Man

'whateverhollywood' on YouTube had my favorite July 4th video for 2009. I hope everyone has an enjoyable 4th, without losing any fingers.

Marvel/DC: Tribute To Captain America
This YouTube channel is the only place you can see all your favorite superheroes together.

Fireworks Song
This isn't a new video from Rhett & Link, but it is a higher quality version then the previous upload.

Canadian, Please
So maybe technically this isn't a good video for July 4th, but Canada is really just the largest state in the U.S.

Michael Jackson Final Rehearsal
This has been the most popular topic on YouTube, and almost everywhere else the past few days. I didn't really want to feature it, because it's sad this is the last we'll see of Michael. So that's why it took me awhile to decide to post it. HERE are some images from the last rehearsal as well.

Turkish March

Spintown News:
Got some more animation sent to me tonight, but I won't get time to take a good look at it until later tonight. The next big Spintown video is getting closer to completion though.

Today I wanted to thank James Jones (AKA JeimusuJones on YouTube). He did a cover I really liked awhile back, but took it off his channel. He was nice enough to send me an MP3 of that cover. Search for him on YouTube, it'll be worth your while.

Turkish March
Vadrum is amazing, and he didn't forget the Mario fans either.

We Can Do It For Love
The Rock-afire Explosion was the coolest band around when I was a little kid, and they still are.

Spattergroit
YouTuber 'italktosnakes' made a video for one of her songs.

Mrs. Robinson
