What Pissed Me Off Today #7

When a holiday or special occasion comes around in which gift giving is customary, it's usually a happy time. However have you ever made an agreement with a family member or good friend to not exchange gifts? Maybe things are a little tight, maybe you're just cheap, or short on time. Whatever the reason it can really ruin your day if the person you made the agreement with goes out an buys you a gift anyway.

Example: For Christmas this year my mother, sister, brother in-law & myself all agreed to buy a new flat screen tv for our living room. We divided the cost to have a 46 inch LCD mounted on our living room wall with a new HD-DVD box 3 ways. That was supposed to be our gift to each other since it was something we all wanted, and no other gifts were to be exchanged. Overall my share was just over $900 which is about $400 more then I would normally spend on Christmas overall.

So Christmas morning comes around and I find that everyone has full stockings. Well I felt a little bad because I didn't put anything in anyone’s. Then the gifts start getting passed out. I got 2 or 3 things from my brother in-law & sister, my mother got me half a dozen items, and I didn't get jack for anyone else. So even though I'm incredibly blessed to have such a great family, I end up spending Christmas feeling like a jerk because I stuck to our agreement.

Conclusion: So for anyone out there who makes these type of deals, or is maybe thinking about it....I highly recommend buying a couple gifts (ranging in prices), wrapping them up, but without a card, and just keep them in your closet in case this happens to you. Then if someone hands you a present that they weren't supposed to buy, you can have something to give back.

What Pissed Me Off Today #6

Here's a link to Pain For Laughs: 16. My You Tube account was just suspended which is why yesterdays video isn't working.

http://myspacetv.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=24481609

Do you want to take a guess as to what pissed me off today? :p Actually I'm not pissed off about anything today, that stupid Christmas spirit must have me in a good mood or something. Truthfully I was expecting the account to get suspended when I saw how popular the videos were getting. I'm a little annoyed that I have to go find another hosting source, but no big deal.

What bothers me about this the most is that out of the 1,500,000 or so people who watched my videos over the past 3 months the vast majority had a positive reaction to them. I had hundreds of ratings, and none of my 16 videos in the series had an average rating lower then 4 1/2 out of 5. Out of all the comments most were positive as well, but there were some who were disgusted by the violence. The way I see it though they shouldn't have watched to begin with if they don't like violent videos. The series is called PAIN FOR LAUGHS for heavens sakes, and there was a violence warning in the description of all the videos. For anyone who may have missed these warnings I started putting a warning at the beginning of all the videos as well.

I just think it's ridicules that You Tube catered to the tiny minority, and suspended the account. Maybe they were worried about kids watching them or advertising, I don't know. Fact is it's not the job of You Tube to monitor what kids watch, it's a parents job. There are plenty of advertisers out there for sites as popular as You Tube as well. Having restrictions for things that most people like is just going to give your competitors an edge. They need to come up with some sort of ability to categorize there videos by age appropriateness like Metacafe.

Bengals: The most recent, and not altogether bad video.

Cowboys: A Christmas music video.

If I've missed one, please let me know.

Jonathan & Emily Perform Code Monkey Together

Jonathan Coulton sings Code Monkey live, while Emily does the Code Monkey Dance on stage next to him. I would like to have a better video, but it's still really cool to see them preform together.

Baby Got Back

Jonathan Coulton sings Baby Got Back in his own way, which just makes it even better.

What Pissed Me Off Today #5

The term "Hate Crime" really ticks me off. If someone attacks someone because of their race or sexuality they shouldn't be punished worse than if they did it for some other reason. If I was the family member of someone who was killed in a drug deal gone bad, I would be pissed off if the killer didn't get as long as someone who killed because of race. Murder is murder people, if you intend to murder someone it doesn't matter why. An eye for an eye, just sit everyone down in Old Sparky that murders someone.

Something else that has been bugging me is how people who attempt murder get less of a penalty than the ones who actually murder someone. Why are we being less harsh on people who are incompetent? They meant to murder somebody, they just failed. Eventually practice makes perfect, and they might actually do the job right next time. Don't give them a chance to try again, and introduced them to Old Sparky as well.

Bo Burnham

This song is about the perfect woman, I think it's one of his best songs thus far.

She was the perfect woman, in every single way,
She made the sun shine brighter, and all my cares go away.
She was the perfect woman, she was a gourmet chef,
They say that love is blind, well it's also deaf.

Cause Helen Keller was the perfect woman, and no one understands,
just how talented she was with her hands.
God made her the perfect woman, i was the finishing touch.
She was the perfect woman cause she didnt talk so much.

She wanted to name the kids, so i finally let her,
it turned out horribly, chewabacca couldve done better.. RAAAAAA
But a guess it was alright, we had a boy and a girl.
Just me and helen, uhhh-aaaa, and Earl!

Cuase helen keller was my miracle worker, i was her one-man-show,
I could walk around the house naked, and she wouldnt even know.
Helen Keller was my perfect woman, i was her only need
She didnt mind the zits on my ass, it gave her more to read

It gave her more to read....

She read poison ivy, she read acne, she read herpes, she read it all.
She read goosebumps, she read blisters, she even read a basketball.

Helen Keller was my perfect woman, but i dont think she cared.
I played this song for her, she just sat there and stared.
She was still my perfect woman, i was sort of a mess,
I asked her to marry me, she said, "UH-EE-OHHH!"

Pain For Laughs: Part 6

If you like the smell of burning flesh you'll like this video. It's full of stupid people, doing stupid things with fire. Everyone knows what happens when you play with fire right? Well these guys didn't, but I'm sure they do now.

What Pissed Me Off Today #4

You know how news programs have tickers on the bottom of the screen? Well have you ever watched one in the morning for some important news, just to have some stupid pop up advertisement obscure your view? To watch a freakin' ticker for 5 minutes, then have a pointless advertisement block your view of the news relevant to you is insanely maddening. Then you have to wait for the whole thing to loop back around. It's bad enough just to miss a sports score on ESPN when that happens, but when you're in a real hurry it's worse. For instance if you need to know if school is cancelled or on delay, and that happens the advertisers who paid for the pop up should be held accountable for the well being of your television set. Because if you're anything like me, that remote control will probably be sent flying in some random direction.

I used to get annoyed with the news ticker when it went to commercial right as whatever I was waiting on started across the screen. Now of course they've found a way to screw with you during the program. How hard would it be to actually start the ticker where you left off at when you come back from commercial? Most of the time you're left waiting for your news to loop back around, while you pray it doesn't get cut off by the next commercial. You would also think they would be able to make the pop ups avoid blocking the most important part of the screen as well. I can see why they would want to use the bottom portion of the screen most of the time. During the news, weather alerts, etc... they need to be smart enough to have them pop up somewhere else.
